A Local Hero Saves Lives From A Raging Fire In Saco
Tyler Johnson is a hero today after jumping into action when he saw a home across the street in flames and rescued everyone in the home.
Home Fire in Saco
The home was on Cleveland Street in Saco, and Tyler Johnson was on the job site for his company, Shamos Paving and Sealcoating. He suddenly realized that a home across the street was in flames and jumped into action.
He quickly ran across the street and heard children screaming, and never hesitated when he entered the home that was thick with smoke. He rescued an elderly man and two children just before the fire engulfed the house in flames.
Shamos Paving and Sealcoating posted about the incident on Facebook, saying about Tyler that "Not all heroes wear capes -- some wear work boots."
The response in the comments was overwhelming, including a thank you from Audrey Tripodi:
Tyler, thank you. If it wasn’t for you, I would have still been asleep while the house was burning down. And the truth is…I probably wouldn’t be here right now. You ran into a burning house to wake me up and get me out. You didn’t think twice, you just acted. You saved my life. I’ll never be able to repay you for that. There’s no way to measure that kind of bravery or selflessness. Just know that I’ll carry your name and what you did for me in my heart forever. I’m here because of you. Thank you, truly.
Shamos Paving and Sealcoating responded:
Thank you so much for sharing this. We’re extremely proud of Tyler and the courage he showed in that moment. We're so thankful you and your family members are safe, and your words truly mean a lot to all of us, especially Tyler.
