This historic museum is dedicated to bringing the creations of Maine artist and inventor Rufus Porter (1792-1884) to a whole new generation of art lovers. Porter was a man of many talents. He was a painter, miniature portrait artist and inventor. According to the museum's website, Porter invented many things, including a life preserver, a fan blower, a steam engine, an elevated railroad and a windless water elevator.
The museum is located at 121 Main Street in Bridgton. It is open between now through October and has limited hours.
