New England Officer Delivers a Baby Due to an Unexpected 911 Call
Imagine receiving a 911 call for a possible overdose and when you get to the situation, something entirely different is going down. That is precisely what happened to 27-year-old, Rhode Island Police Officer Connor Doyle.
According to Fox News, on March 25th, Officer Connor Doyle was dispatched to check on a woman with a history of drug use. The station had received a call from one of the woman's family members to do a check-in, feeling that the woman may have overdosed.
Well, Officer Connor Doyle was in for a surprise once he arrived at the woman's apartment.
Fox News states that when Officer Doyle arrived at the scene, he did in fact find evidence of narcotics but there was a bigger issue. The woman was about to give birth and was already 90% of the way in delivering her child.
What is most shocking about this, was that the woman was unaware that she was pregnant. You may be wondering how did she not know that she was pregnant, however, if you've ever seen the show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant," then you know that this seems to happen to many individuals.
According to Fox News, Officer Connor Doyle along with his partner, Officer Justin Ryel, and the two Woonsocket firefighters assisted in delivering the baby. The baby girl was born roughly 25 weeks premature and was brought to the local children's hospital and is in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) where she is being taken care of.
In an interview with Fox News, Officer Doyle says that the mother underwent rehab and a 12-step program and has been clean since the birth of her daughter. The mother was not charged by the police department, however, an investigation will occur by the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
