More Great Signs From the Weekend’s Protest in Portland, Maine

Over 1,500 people took to the streets of Portland, Maine, for a second time this month to protest our president.

The Portland Press Herald reported that on Saturday, April 19, 2025, another protest against the Trump administration's policies took place in downtown Portland, Maine. It was once again crowded with speakers chanting and tons of signs.

This march in Portland, Maine, was organized by Indivisible Greater Portland. Again, hundreds of rallies and protests were organized across the country.  This is part of the '50501' movement, which is something started on Reddit. They call it '50501' because of the push on February 5 for 50 protests in 50 states on 1 day. Saturday's protest just happened to come on the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolutionary War.  The protest two weeks ago, dubbed 'Hands Off', was the largest single-day protest of the Trump administration.

If you went, maybe you feel the way Amanda Eaton from Portland felt. She told the Portland Press Herald what it was like,

Powerful. Invigorating. We’re taking a stand for democracy and we’re not going to back down because what’s happening in our country is absolutely disgusting and terrifying.

It was a crowd of protestors, with some who had protested decades ago, to kids on their parents' shoulders. As discouraged as they were with the state of affairs, they were also very encouraged by the number of people. Because you might not think it will help, but they are convinced it can bring about change.
