Mark your calendars and come hungry. PoutineFest is returning to Thompson’s Point in Portland for a full day of indulgence, entertainment, and cultural celebration on Saturday, September 13th. This fun event honors the beloved French-Canadian dish, poutine, and it’s become one of Maine’s most talked-about summer festivals. Tickets go on sale June 21st at 10 AM, and last year, the event sold out fast, so you’ll want to grab yours early!

Thanks to my friends Amy and Gary from Madawaska, where most residents speak French, I was introduced to this delicious treat that is a staple up north. Ever since that first plate of golden fries, rich gravy, and cheese curds, I’ve been hooked, and this festival takes that love to the next level.

Restaurants from all over Maine will be serving up their unique takes on poutine, and every attendee gets a generous portion from each vendor.

You’ll also get to weigh in as chefs compete for the coveted Ceinture de Championnat (Championship Belt) for “Best Poutine of the Fest.”

It's Family Friendly in French

The event is about more than just food. Expect live music, craft beer, lawn games, kids’ activities, and even extra food trucks to keep the fun going. Yes, it’s family-friendly, with plenty to keep the little ones busy and maybe even learning a little French!
More importantly, the festival supports French language and cultural programs across Maine, keeping heritage alive in the most delicious way.
While I won’t be attending this year, my girlfriend Michele’s cheese aversion and my inability to drive right now make that tricky, but you absolutely should. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind celebration of food, culture, and community in Portland.
