Outdoor Incentives Offered to Mainers Who Get a COVID Vaccine
The 'Your Shot to Get Outdoors' program offers gift cards, event tickets, and more to people who get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Starting on Monday, people scheduling a COVID-19 vaccination are eligible to receive some pretty nice incentives, like LL Bean gift cards, or Portland Sea Dogs tickets as a reward for getting vaccinated before the summer season begins. The offer is open to adults, age 18 and over, who have not yet been vaccinated.
Governor Janet Mills announced the incentive program during a discussion with President Joe Biden and a bipartisan group of governors on Tuesday. President Biden complimented Governor Mills on the state's efforts to get people in rural communities vaccinated, and she told him about this new program, that will reward people who get their COVID-19 vaccination with access to outdoor activities.
With this new initiative, we are encouraging Maine people to get their vaccine and get outdoors to experience all that our state has to offer. Whether you're an angler or a hunter, a baseball fan or a racing fan, or someone who just all-around enjoys being outside, now is a great time to protect yourself from COVID-19 and take to the outdoors.
In order to take advantage of the program, Maine adults age 18+ must be vaccinated between May 11th and May 31st. Participants must pre-register by filling out an online form, or by calling the state's community vaccination line at 1-888-445-4111. It applies to the first shot of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Maine. Incentives being offered include:
- 2021 Fishing License
- 2021 Hunting License
- Maine Wildlife Park Pass for admission of up to 2 people
- Maine State Park Day Pass for one vehicle, valid through June 15th, 2021
- L.L. Bean Gift Card worth $20
- Sea Dogs Admission Ticket for the 2021 season
- Oxford Plains Speedway Pass for the 2021 racing season
Quantities are limited and are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
