If you've ever seen the blue and yellow colored train locomotives throughout Maine, they are owned by CSX Transportation, which bought the former Pan Am Railways, which was formerly Guidlford Transportation, which was formerly the Maine Central Railroad. That's my quick railroad history lesson.

CSX has announced that it will be temporarily closing roads in Old Orchard Beach to make repairs to its rail infrastructure. It may be a pain to navigate, but when it's done, it will be much better.

According to the Old Orchard Beach Police Department, closures are expected between June 10th and June 17th, but depending on the weather, the work could be delayed into July. You know how we've been having rain nearly every weekend since spring began? Keep your fingers crossed.

Temple Avenue, Union Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, and Walnut Street crossings will be temporarily closed while CSX crews replace crossties and resurface asphalt to give you a smooth ride over the railroad crossing. There will be detour signs to let you know well in advance that you are approaching a road closure.

Keep an eye on the Old Orchard Beach Police Department Facebook page where they'll share timeframes for road closures so you'll be in the know on your way to wherever you need to go.
