In a time when there's been too much bad news about lots of favorite restaurants, how about a little good news instead? The good news being that the Portland waterfront is close to having its newest restaurant join the ranks, an oyster bar and bistro known as Helm.

Shared on Instagram by HelmPortland, it appears the restaurant is putting on some of the final touches before being able to open their doors the public sometime before the end of the year. The new oyster bar will be located on the first floor of the recently constructed Wex building at 60 Thames street across from the Ocean Gateway Terminal.

Helm Oyster Bar & Bistro has been a project that's a long time coming. Portland Food Map shared initial plans for the restaurant that were put into place back inn February. But as the global pandemic has affected so many of our lives, it has affected projects large and small as well. That included Helm's timeline for opening.

While delayed, it certainly seems like things are going to work out for Helm and their dreams of opening in a very strange 2020. Check their social media pages for an official opening date before the end of the year.
