New England Town Emerges as One of America’s Fastest-Growing Cities
Here in New England, we know we're lucky to live in one of the best parts of the US.
Over the years, countless studies have directed high praise towards our region. Last year, a WalletHub study announced the best small cities in the country, and eight New England towns made the list. Our area has also been highlighted for having the hottest zip codes, most underrated destinations, safest towns and best small cities in the nation, coolest small towns, and so on.
But when it comes to the country's fastest-growing cities, how does New England compare to the rest of the nation? Many people long to live where we do, and those lucky enough to find a home in today's abysmal housing market are quickly planting roots in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. As it turns out, one Bay State town has experienced so much growth that the travel guide website Florida Panhandle has featured it in their list of America's fastest-growing cities. Coming at #16, that community is none other than Medford, Massachusetts, located a short drive away from Boston and flanked by Arlington and Malden.
Now, this writer's knowledge of Medford is nonexistent, but Florida Panhandle states that the town experienced a 5.21% growth increase between 2021 and 2022. The findings were determined in part by using data from the US Census Bureau, along with the "median household income and median home price."
So if you're hoping to relocate to metro Boston, Medford might be a place worth checking out. Just be sure that your pockets are deep enough, as the city is one of the nation's most expensive communities, according to NeighborhoodScout.
Speaking of cities, check out these eight New England towns, which ranked among the best in the nation.
