Mattress Firm’s Bankruptcy Means Probable Closures For Many New England Stores
Mattress Firm has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after much speculation and turmoil within the Houston-based chain, according to FOX Business. In the last few years alone, there have been accusations of "accounting irregularities" and "money laundering" as per the FOX report. The bankruptcy could result in the closure of as many as 700 of Mattress Firm's 3400 locations across the U.S., including stores in New England.
So far, there are no closures scheduled for Maine. However, the mattress giant has a list of many stores shutting their doors in New Hampshire and Massachusetts combined, according to USA Today.
In New Hampshire, you can expect the store in South Broadway in Salem to close.
In Massachusetts, the list is much longer and includes stores in Northampton, Foxboro, Newton, and Fairhaven.
