Maine’s Primer Balloon Festival Cancelled Due to The Pandemic
During a time of excitement in Maine where residents as young as 16 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, there's a layer of home for a sense of normalcy to return.
However, it was also announced today that a beloved summer staple in Maine will once again be canceled, the Great Falls Balloon Festival.
This event is huge for tourism in the Lewiston Auburn area. People flock to central Maine to see the stunning hot air balloons and enjoy the other family-friendly festival activities.
The event's Facebook post explains that the decision was not an easy one but in order to follow the current mandates in place while trying to meet financial requirements for the event, it's just not possible. While difficult, the decision was unanimous.
They go on to explain that they hope to see the usual 100,000 guests visit for the Great Falls Balloon Festival in the year 2022.

One thing's for sure with all these landmark events being canceled for another year, one can only assume that once they do return, support and attendance will be bigger and better than ever.
