Instagrammer Has So Many Reasons Why We Love to Live in Maine
I've lived in Maine all my life. I'm not going to tell you how long that is, but let's just say I'm a very "seasoned" Mainer.
Despite the slippery roads in the winter, potholes in the spring, and a streak of rain every single Saturday since March, there's so much to love about Maine that I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. And I'm not the only one.
Meet Katie Zarrilli
Instagrammer Katie Zarrilli is from Gorham and has worked as a television correspondent at WAGM in Presque Isle and at WBOC in Salisbury, Maryland. She got her start in Maine, but as you can see, work took her to Maryland until she realized just how much she missed Maine.
It's a thing for Mainers. You can live all over the country, but once a Mainer, always a Mainer. It just calls back to you.
It's Good to Be Home
She recently posted on Instagram that she has been back in Maine for a year now, and it feels like home:
I’ve officially passed the one year mark since moving back to Maine and I still can’t even believe it. Every day it feels better and better to be here- where my heart has always been.
I thought I’d share a note about that to celebrate this anniversary. I hope it resonates with you.
I love that when we come back, Maine welcomes us with open arms. No judgment. No, “What took you so long?”
All love. And that’s why this state is the very best.
I couldn't agree more, Katie. My childhood growing up in Maine was some of the most cherished memories I have of the Pine Tree State. I still do this day, drive down the street I grew up on in South Paris, Maine, and look at the houses lining the street, remembering who lived in every single one of them back when I was a kid.

Doors were never locked. Friends and family would just walk in, because everyone on the street knew each other and were always welcome. No knocking necessary.
Thanks, Katie, for reminding me of just how great Maine is.
