Being a dog mom is one thing. Being a Maine dog mom? That's a whole different lifestyle.

Here are three signs you've officially earned the title.

  1. Mud Season Doesn't Scare You Anymore

Forget white carpets. Seriously.

Between March and May, your house becomes a revolving door of muddy paw prints.

You own at least three towels utterly dedicated exclusively to dog feet, and you've mastered the art of cleaning paws before your pup can sprint through the living room. It's not a season, it's survival.

  1. Your Favorite Trails Have Four Legs in Mind

When someone suggests a weekend trip to Bradbury Mountain, Reid State Park, Thornscraig Bird Sanctuary or Acadia National Park, your first question isn't "What's the weather?"

It's "Can I bring the dog?" Half your camera roll is scenic Maine views... and the other half is your dog posing in front of them like they're starring in a L.L.Bean catalog.

  1. You've Accepted That Your Dog Runs the Lobster Roll Stops

A quick stop at Red's Eats, The Clam Shack, or your favorite roadside seafood shack somehow turns into a full production because your dog is riding shotgun.

You order your lobster roll, they get a pup cup or a few approved treats, and suddenly everyone nearby is saying hello to your dog instead of you. Honestly, you're just their chauffeur at this point.

Being a Maine dog mom means embracing muddy boots, coastal adventures, and the fact that your dog probably has more fans around town than you do.

And if you've ever planned your entire day around making sure your pup gets to enjoy Maine as much as you do... congratulations. You're officially one of us.
