A Maine D-Day veteran will share his story tonight on the History Channel according to the Portland Press Herald. The Portland daily newspaper reported that Charles Shay of Old Town will be featured in a documentary that will be aired on Friday and Saturday at 9 pm. Early in the morning of June 6, 1944, over 150,000 Allied troops invaded the beach at Normandy in Northern France with the Germans waiting for them. This began a two week fight that liberated France. Over 10,000 Allies gave their lives during the largest invasion in human history.

Thank you Charles Shay for your service and your story. Thank you to my brave father who served in China, Burma, and India in WWII. I love and miss you, Dad.
