Maine Gets Its First Reported Case of Vaping-Related Lung Illness
The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention has reported its first case of lung illness in connection with e-cigarettes, according to WABI.tv.
The reported case is of an adult who showed similar symptoms to other cases across the country, which include coughing, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, as well as chest and abdominal pains.
The article says there have been over 530 cases in 38 other states so far and 7 deaths have been reported in six separate states. Those deaths are believed to have been caused by complications due to vaping.
The Maine CDC says people who have recently used an e-cigarette or vaping product and experience similar symptoms should see a health care provider.
To date, there have been no deaths in Maine due to the illness, the article reports.
