Maine CDC Reports 426 New COVID-19 Cases in Maine and 2 Deaths

According to the Maine CDC's Monday update, the cumulative number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Maine is now at 16,349, an increase of 426 since Sunday. 14,339 of those cases are confirmed while 2,010 are deemed probable. Over the past seven days, the Maine CDC has reported 2,574 new cases of COVID-19. There were 2 new deaths reported of individuals with COVID-19, bringing the total to 259. 893 patients have had to be hospitalized at some point. 198 are currently hospitalized with 56 in intensive care and 17 on a ventilator.

10,548 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered, an increase of 57 since Sunday. The total number of diagnosed active cases of COVID-19 is 5,543, an increase of 367.

Governor Janet Mills announced a new executive order December 11 requiring Mainers to wear face coverings in all indoor public spaces and prohibits owners from letting anyone in who is not wearing a face covering. The order also states that claiming a medical exemption is not an excuse to enter without a face covering.

Governor Mills has extended the State of Emergency in Maine through December 23, allowing Maine to continue to receive federal funding and use available resources to respond to COVID-19.
