Simones' Hot Dog Stand has been in operation at 99 Chestnut Street in Lewiston since 1908. That's 110 years of serving up hot dogs and other foods in the same exact spot, ever since James Simones left Greece and eventually ended up in Lewiston where he set up shop.

This week People Magazine named Simones' as the best Hot Dog stand in Maine. It's quite amazing to be named the best in the state out of all the other hot dog stands, but winning awards and being on a best of list is nothing new for Simones'.

in 2015 Thrillist.com named Simones' one of the best 21 hot dog joints in America. And just last year, they picked up the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce 2017 Annual Award.

Both lists mention Maine's famous "Red Snapper" hot dogs that Simones' serves up, either grilled or steamed and with a dab or two of chili and some cheese or whatever you like on your hot dog.

Simones' serves up much more than just hot dogs: Their full menu includes breakfast until 11 am, salads and sandwiches and even soups. They are open from 6:30-4pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays 7:00 - 2 p.m. Labor Day through Memorial Day.
