New Englanders Have the Best Ideas on What to Do With Killington’s Old Gondolas for Sale
Last week, the WCAXTV Instagram account posted that the famous Killington Ski Resort was selling some of its old gondolas. This is ahead of a $38 million dollar resort renovation. For whatever reason, they are available, owning a ski gondola from an iconic New England mountain would be... ICONIC.
The first thing that came to mind was a swing outside in my yard. But then I read some of the Instagram comments, and I was far more impressed.
You know, most of the time, the public's social media comments usually disappoint me. In the same vein, I have to give credit where credit is due, and the public social media comments were actually really good about this. As in, people were giving real suggestions on what to do with the gondolas, and it shocked me.
Below are some of the best comments, and most were the top comments (aka most public support):
@tcs71 said, "Outdoor dining pods ? Could two people and a table fit?" A great idea, as we have seen a few restaurants with this type of winter seating in New England.
@travelinglina said, "I would love to turn one into a greenhouse!" A brilliant concept.
@cbrocshow said, "Could be an great shelter for the homeless." This was a really unique idea, especially as Burling does have its struggles with homelessness.
Finally, @revestoland said, "Sauna would be legit"
The first batch of gondolas sold for $2,000 a piece. Last updated, there were 87 left, and the bids were starting at $1,000.
