Concerts Returning to The Portland, Maine, Expo Building

For the last decade, the James A. Banks Sr. Exposition building in Portland, Maine, has been centered around professional basketball.

The Portland Expo has been home to the Maine Celtics since their inaugural season in 2009-2010.

Constructed in 1914, the Portland Expo is the oldest multi-purpose buildings anywhere in the United States and while it has been focused on professional basketball for many years, it was once home to some very memorable concerts.

And for two dates in September and October this year, a concert promoter hopes to recapture some of that concert magic at the historic venue.

Port City Live Bringing The Thursday Night Outlaw Concert Series to Portland, Maine

Port City Live is a new concert promotion business created by Joe Stinson, who owns and operates Stinson and Company in Portland, Maine.

According to NewsCenter Maine, Stinson attended his first concert at the Portland Expo decades ago and had an idea to bring live concerts back to the building.

That idea will come to life on Thursday, September 17 and Thursday, October 15 when the Portland Expo hosts a pair of concerts being dubbed at the Thursday Night Outlaw series.

Country Music and Alternative Rock Will Be Featured at the Portland, Maine, Expo

For the debut performance of the Thursday Night Outlaw series on September 17, Whitey Morgan and The 78's will have their first-ever performance in Portland, Maine. The concert will be a tribute to authentic country music and storytelling.

For the October 15 date, Giovannie and The Hired Guns will also make their Portland, Maine, debut bringing their version of red dirt country alternative rock to the Expo.

Port City Live hopes that these two shows are just the beginning of a longer series of concerts at the Expo in the future.
