It won't be long before another school year is finished and a hopeful graduating class begins their next journey onto college.

For many of those high school seniors, they have been plotting and planning on which places of higher education they'd like to attend and how they plan on being accepted.

While Maine is home to many terrific colleges and universities, there's a pair that stand out for their exclusivity.

According to Visual Capitalist, Maine is actually home to two of the most difficult colleges in America to be accepted into.

That includes Bowdoin College, who only accepts about 7% of applicants currently. That acceptance rate ranks right behind places like Duke University, Johns Hopkins and Vanderbilt.

Colby College in Waterville, Maine, Also Has a 7% Admission Acceptance Rate

It shouldn't exactly be surprising that the long standing academic and athletic rivalry between Bowdoin College and Colby College extends to admission acceptance rates as well.

Just like Bowdoin, Colby College only accepts about 7% of yearly applicants making it one of the most difficult schools in the nation to get into.

The most difficult? That would be Cal Tech. The private university in Pasadena, California, only accepts about 3% of applicants every year making it the most exclusive college in America.
