
Here’s What’s Taking Over the Former Regal Cinemas in Brunswick, Maine
Changes are coming to the former Regal Cinemas building in Brunswick, Maine.
Pathway Vineyard recently purchased the movie theater, more than two years after the multiplex closed its doors in the midcoast town.
There is still one Regal Cinemas in the state, which is located in Augusta.
Pathway Vineyard Taking Over Regal Cinemas in Brunswick, Maine
Pathway Vineyard announced on its Facebook page on Sunday, September 28, that it was now officially the owner of the former Regal Cinemas in Brunswick.
The church had previously shared news in a Facebook video back in May that it was under contract for the location, but cautioned that nothing was set and things could change.
Pathway Vineyard currently has a Brunswick campus, but in the video, it noted that space has been an issue for years.
Now, months later, the real estate deal has gone through, and the 29,000-square-foot property with over 300 parking spaces will fit the needs of the church's plans.
What is Pathway Vineyard?
Pathway Vineyard is a multi-site church with locations in Brunswick, New Gloucester, Lewiston and Biddeford.
According to its website, the church offers casual, welcoming services that focus on community and contemporary worship, often connecting with a laid-back atmosphere.
You might not have even realized that Pathway Vineyard has hosted a number of local community-based events.
In fact, the Christmas on Maine event in downtown Brunswick, which features horse-drawn wagon rides, live caroling, s'mores, hot cocoa, and more, is one of them and has been going on for years now.
What Are the Plans for the Regal Cinemas in Brunswick, Maine?
The news may feel bittersweet for movie fans hoping a new theater would take over the former Regal Cinemas. For those in the area, it likely held a lot of nostalgic memories of late-night showings, buttery buckets of popcorn, and meeting up with friends and family for a show.
The positive spin is that, thankfully, the place won't remain vacant anymore.

Pathway didn't reveal everything that would be happening, but said in its September Facebook post that there would be more details to come.
If anything, it's just another reminder of how towns like Brunswick continue to grow and evolve with time.
