WATCH: Lewiston, Maine, Man’s Halloween Crushes Record with Nearly 3,500 Trick or Treaters
Peter Geiger, Mr. Halloween, did not set out to shatter records, but that's exactly what he did.
Peter is the editor emeritus for the Farmers' Almanac—a passion of his for the past 40-some-odd years. Peter loves Halloween for the family tradition of it, the kid's excitement, and the opportunity to be 'that' house with the best candy.
Knowing the password in Lewiston, Maine got you 3 4 king-sized candy bars
This year's password was 'Kindness Counts'. Peter was concerned that this year's Halloween at Geiger might not get the crowds of last year. Last year, TV stations were on site as it was less than a week from the horrific news of the mass shooting. He had 2,869 trick-or-treaters and handed out 7,000 candy bars. He figured this year he would have fewer guests. Nope.
Peter has been hoarding candy since July and when the gates opened at 4:20 pm, there was a 'human avalanche'! It was a stream of tremendous costumes and big smiles.
Best year for costumes, smiles, and great conversations in Lewiston, Maine
The password this year for your FOUR king-sized candy bars was 'kindness counts'. It's such a great lesson for the kids and parents too. They all had a blast! Even WGME-TV13 came to catch some of the excitement and interviewed Mr. Halloween himself, Peter Geiger.
*notice a witch that looks familiar? I was honored to be a small part of the fun*
