Something Sweet Is Coming to Summer Street as Wiscasset’s New Bakery Opens

What looks like a charming house on Summer Street is about to become one of Wiscasset’s sweetest new stops.

After months of watching and waiting, Brill’s Bakery at 27 Summer Street is finally opening its doors. The grand opening is Saturday, September 5, and judging by the buzz around town, people have been anxiously awaiting this day.

And really, who can blame them? The thought of walking down Summer Street with the smell of fresh sourdough, sticky buns and other baked-from-scratch treats floating through the neighborhood sounds pretty wonderful.

A Father-Daughter Bakery

Brill’s Bakery is the creation of father-daughter team Steve Brill and Emily Clark. According to The Lincoln County News, the two have been baking together for years and decided it was time to share their breads and pastries with more than just family.

The menu brings together both of their specialties, including sourdough breads, focaccia and international-inspired baked goods. The Lincoln County News also reported that the bakery plans to prioritize local ingredients, including flour from Maine Grains in Skowhegan.

There’s something especially fitting about a family-run bakery opening in a small town like Wiscasset. It feels warm, local and very Maine.

The doors open Saturday morning at 8 a.m. I have a feeling the smell alone may lead you right to the front door.
