The Halloween classic It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown airs on WMTW 8 Tuesday night, but it will be the shorter version.

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown originally aired in 1966 and since then has become a classic for generations. I always remember watching it as a kid each year and laughing so hard every time Charlie Brown, wearing is ghost sheet with way too many eye holes, got a rock in his trick or treat bag. I still do.

ABC plans to air a 30 minute version of The Great Pumpkin tonight (October 22) at 8 p.m. If that's too late for the young ones in your family, a longer version of The Great Pumpkin will air Sunday, October 27 at 7 p.m. This one hour version has a few more scenes and a second Peanuts feature called You're Not Elected Charlie Brown.

You're Not Elected, originally released in 1972, sees Lucy running a campaign for Charlie Brown to be elected school president. Charlie doesn't think anyone would vote for him, and Lucy takes a poll proving he's right and instead has Linus run. It's no Great Pumpkin or A Charlie Brown Christmas, but ABC has to fill that time somehow.

You can watch both showings of It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown on WMTW 8.
