Unfortunately, these pandemic times have desensitized us a little. When we hear a restaurant is closing we say "AW MAN! NOT ANOTHER ONE!" But when it's a restaurant that you have grown to love and have made so many fond memories at, it hurts!

I still haven't recovered from Rudi's in downtown Portsmouth closing. After serving the community for 15 years, the Seacoast staple made the difficult decision to close their doors in early January 2022.

I always loved Rudi's even before I was a Portsmouth resident. The food was superb and the atmosphere was downright charming! The description on their website could not have been more accurate:

"Rudi's has a charismatic atmosphere boasting an eclectic mix of downtown charm and uptown polish."

I miss their creative outdoor seating that they made post-pandemic. It really had the best view of Market Square:

If you are the nostalgic type or are opening a restaurant of your own, Rudi's is holding an online auction where they are selling all of the contents of their restaurant. EVERYTHING MUST GO!

If you had your eye on that gorgeous painting that was above the fireplace, unfortunately that is not up for auction. Most of the art in Rudi's was personal property. I am pretty sure the same goes for the piano. However, rugs, dining tables, and glassware will be up for grabs for extremely low prices. I saw a perfectly good vacuum starting at $2.50. Also, there was a Pitco Frialator starting at $5.00.

This feels extremely sad to me, but at the same time makes a lot of sense. Rudi's was equipped with perfectly good kitchen wear and decorated beautifully. There is no reason why this stuff should go to waste.

Bidding is open now and closes Wednesday February 16th at 11am EST. You can see all the items available for auction here.
