Almost Open: Women Are Building The Sports Bra, Maine
The Sports Bra Maine is getting closer to opening, and I am so excited I can barely stand it. Located at 476 Stevens Ave Portland, the ladies are literally up on ladders, fixing things up, installing lighting, building out the space, and sharing updates on Instagram.
Every new peek makes me more excited to see this place come to life!
And can we talk about the women making this happen? YES!
Women are doing the work, building this space, and bringing this vision to life. How incredible is it that a place celebrating women’s sports is being built largely by women, too?
Women-owned businesses like Nest Carpentry, owned by Jesse Hutchins, and MJR Electrical, owned by MJ Reed, are helping build this space from the ground up.
MJ and her apprentice Emma are handling the electrical work that will help bring all those screens to life, so we can watch women's sports the way they deserve to be watched.
If you haven't heard of The Sports Bra, it's a sports bar concept built around something that should never have been revolutionary in the first place: women's sports getting the spotlight. Not an afterthought. Not the one TV tucked in the corner. The main event.
And that's why this matters so much to me.
Visibility matters. Representation matters. Little girls growing up seeing women athletes celebrated, supported, and treated like the incredible professionals they are matters.
Maine is getting a space where women's sports can bring people together, build community, and get the attention they've earned.

I love seeing women supporting women, local businesses helping bring this vision to life, and something this meaningful taking shape right here in our state.
I'm watching every Instagram update like it's a countdown to Christmas.
Come on, Sports Bra Maine. We're READY FOR YOU!
