First thing I said when I walked in was, 'Geesh, I guess it's been a while since I've been here...'

When I walked into the Falmouth Pratt Abbott, there was no counter, no attendant, just a row of machines. Thank God there was a woman there to explain what was happening. Pratt Abbott in Falmouth is a test location for going completely automated!

Get out! All I could think of was the Jetsons!

The attendant who was there (thank God) guided me to exactly what to do. I actually was in with an alteration. She told me to grab a bag, put the shirt right in, write out exactly what I needed, scan it, and drop it.

Since technology and I aren't always best friends, I was scanning the wrong thing at first, but then she set me straight, and it was the easiest thing ever. I felt bad for this woman because she was the one who had to guide people like me! But the litmus test for things is if I can do it, anyone can.

It's only been a few weeks since Falmouth went all automatic, but apparently, it is a long-term plan for all Pratt Abbotts in Southern Maine. There are 12 locations in Southern Maine.

This is wild! To be honest I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's so crazy how technology has gotten so good, that well...there goes a couple more jobs. But honestly, with the way the world has been dealing with a lack of employees, maybe this is just the way it has to be.
