Remember the Ground Round? In the 1980s this popular family restaurant based out of Massachusettes had 215 locations. Up until now, there were three Ground Rounds in  North Dakota and one in Ohio. A fifth location is now open and it's in New England.

The Ground Round is Back

So there's some good news and bad news about this new Ground Round that has opened up. The good news is that there is a new Ground Round, seen above, located at 271 Grafton St, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The bad news is that for those of us in Maine, it's a little over a two-hour drive to this Ground Round.

Up until 2004 there were three Ground Rounds in Maine. One in Saco at the former Cinemagic, one in Bangor on Odlin Road, and one in Hallowell that was near the Camden National Bank Ice Vault and Spare Time Recreation. 2004 is when The Ground Round filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and poof! Maine Ground Rounds were gone.

Is It Worth the Trip?

Yes! In my humble opinion, it's worth the trip. Not regularly by any means, but it's the old Ground Round you know and love so why would you want to miss out on an opportunity like this?
