Get the Jordan Marsh Blueberry Muffin Recipe From Boston Native (and New Kids On The Block Member) Danny Wood
Without taking an official poll, it’s safe to assume the two things New Englanders loved most about the 1980s were Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins, and New Kids On The Block.
Well, guess what: you can now learn how to make Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins from one of the New Kids On The Block. As part of his YouTube cooking series, Danny Wood took fans of muffins and music alike into the kitchen to share what you might call…the right stuff.
Here are the ingredients:
- Half a cup of butter (or one stick)
- Two cups of unsifted flour
- One cup of sugar
- Two large eggs
- Half a cup of milk
- Two teaspoons of baking powder
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- 2 ½ cups of large, fresh blueberries (with half a cup mashed up)
- 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract
- Two more tablespoons of sugar (raw cane, to go on top of the muffins before baking)
After preheating your oven to 375 degrees, you can follow along with Wood for the rest.
If baking’s not your thing, you can always wait for the holidays, when the muffins reemerge at Jordan’s Furniture in Avon. One Jordan’s brings life to the other each Christmas by opening up the beloved Enchanted Village that was once a seasonal staple at the Marsh store in Boston’s downtown crossing (muffins included).
Macy’s bought out Jordan Marsh in the mid-90s, just a few years before taking over its rival Filene’s. But the rivalry as to which one was the best New England department store rages on.
