Fort Gorges In Portland Will Transform Into Fort Wine For One Day This Summer
Each and every summer, tourists are drawn to Portland's Casco Bay for many reasons including the incredible array of historical forts that litter the coastline. One of those forts, Fort Gorges, still stands as a spectacle, only able to be visited by boat. If the history and architecture isn't enough reason for you to want to visit this summer, Fort Gorges will add another reason… wine.
An event listed as part of Portland Wine Week will transform Fort Gorges into Fort Wine on Saturday June 22nd. Ticket holders will depart from Commercial Street in Portland by boat for an afternoon of wine tasting inside the historic fort directed by Ned Swain of Devenish Wines. It won't just be wine, you'll also get a tour of Fort Gorges as well so you sip while soaking in some history.
