Drinks on the Sand: Hidden Gem Maine Beach Bar Just Steps Away From the Ocean
You'll hear a lot of people in Maine admit that there's not too much to do in or around the Portland area that doesn't eventually involve going to a bar.
So, when you can combine an activity WITH a bar, and still call it a dive bar, it seems like a you've just discovered a hidden gem.
Memorial Day weekend 2023 was when I discovered a hidden bar gem and I'm never going to be the same.
I found Royal Anchor's Tiki Bar in Old Orchard Beach. I'd never heard of it/been to it before, but I'm glad I finally did.
Half beach and half bar, this tiki bar is actually a run off of the Royal Anchor Resort, a popular hotel for tourists in the summertime looking for a beachfront near OOB.
No shoes? No problem. Literally. No shirt? Still no problem.
There's also live music and food trucks at this spot as well. I mean literally picture this, you can jump in the ocean in your suit, then walk back up the stairs and onto the outside bar to order another frozen margarita.
Makes you sort of feel like you're at a Sandals resort in Maine, am I right?
You can track the live music schedule online as well if you're one of those people that NEEDS to map out your day before you do it.
Sometimes, it's nice to get away in Maine even though you live here, and after this weekend my girlfriends and I are thinking about a weekend trip away hehe.
Are there any other hidden gem bars I should check out? There are definitely some other beach bars in the area, so let me know, what other ones are good to visit!
