Check Out The Deserted Windsor Fairgrounds in The Off Season
Hopefully, if circumstances allow, the currently empty and idle Windsor Fairgrounds will see a season like no other when ticket windows and gates open on August 29th, 2021. Maine missed almost its entire fair season last year due to restrictions from the coronavirus.
It may not seem like a big deal to have to skip a single fair season, but when you really dive deep into what an agricultural state Maine is and how many people sell, market and promote their products at Maine's fairs, you realize that the economic impact of 'not having a fair' is much bigger than most people thought.
Mainers that own food trucks make the majority of the season's money at Maine's fairs. Travelling carnival workers that set-up, take-down and manage the midway rides had no work. And, of course, fairgrounds statewide that rely on that one week of ticket sales to be able to maintain the grounds saw none of that much-needed cashflow.
Since we live in Windsor, I frequently take the kids to the fairgrounds in the offseason to ride their bikes and scooters since there's loads of paved roads and wide open spaces to play. Have you ever wondered what the place looks like completely deserted? Well today's your lucky day.
