Bargain Shoppers Will Love This Small Change at JCPenney in the Maine Mall
There are very few things that people from Maine love more than finding a bargain. Being frugal is in most Mainers' DNA, which is why so many consignment shops, discount retailers, and flea markets have remained popular throughout the state.
While some considering finding a bargain like a pseudo-treasure hunt, sometimes the best deals are just staring you in the face. That includes at the Maine Mall, where one of mall's longtime end caps, JCPenney, has made a small in-store change that will delight those searching for a deal.
The JCPenney store at the Maine Mall has shifted their departments in recent months and now includes a new department, clearance. For shoppers that frequent retailers like T.J. Maxx or Kohls, the clearance section at Penney's will look all too familiar.
According to Retail Dive, the move to create a clearance "department" has been a company-wide initiative to ensure the other departments at JCPenney stay fresh. For decades, JCPenney has run significant sales, marking down tons of merchandise in their stores to move it out. But in mixing the 'old' merchandise with the new arrivals, JCPenney executives believed they lessened the value of their 'new' merchandise.
It will also give the brick-and-mortar store a similar feel to shopping online. Shoppers love the ability to separate merchandise from the stuff on clearance. They can do it with a simple click online. In-store, it was much different.
That led to the decision to forego major clearance sales in each individual department, and instead create a new clearance department all together. Shoppers will have to do their own scavenging, searching strictly by size in men's, women's, and children's sub-sections. But for bargain shoppers, the pain is worth the gain when it comes to finding a sneaky good deal.
