All Eight Locations of Pet Store Loyal Companion in Maine Are Closing

You've got until the end of February 2023.

The announcement was made on their website and Facebook pages:

With a heavy heart, we want to inform you that we've made the tough decision to close our Loyal Companion stores.  We have loved serving the community and supporting you on your pet wellness journey. ​ Our stores will be open through the end of February.  We will be offering liquidation discounts and we encourage you to take advantage of these great offers to get all the supplies you need. While it's hard to say goodbye, it's easy to say thank you. Thank you for being part of our family. Thank you for caring about pet wellness. And thank  you for supporting your local community. We've enjoyed all the hugs and belly rubs along the way. ​

There are 8 locations in Maine of Loyal Companion (you may recognize the loctions as Pet Life).

• South Portland - Mill Creek
• Scarborough
• Topsham - Topsham Fair Mall
• Saco - Saco Valley Shopping
• Windham - Shaw's Plaza
• Lewiston - Shaw's Plaza
• Sanford - Center for Shopping

It's so unfortunate that these locations are closing in Maine, but not surprising. It wasn't that long ago that Loyal Companion made the news. PR News Wire reported in 2019 that Loyal Companion has the largest coordinated opening in pet history with 52 new one-stop stores.  Loyal Companion merged seven well-known independent pet retailers into one: Bark!, Especially For Pets, Kriser's, Pet Life, Pet Source, Dogma - Life With Your Pet, and Whole Pet Central combined into Loyal Companion. That ambitious move ended in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

That was before Covid and it was a huge endeavor. Hopefully, your little furry friend will be okay with the news.
