You don't have to go far in Maine to find natural beauty.
From rocky coasts to rolling farm land and majestic forests, Maine has always been one of those states that truly has it all.

And it's not just those of us who are lucky to call it home who think so. Rarely does a day go by without Maine making a list of the "most" something — and more often than not, it's a good thing.
Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is one of the most photographed lighthouses in Acadia. It was built in 1858.
This time, Maine has secured its spot on the coveted "50 Most Beautiful Places in America" list from Conde Nast Traveler. Originally published in 2016, the list has been updated over the years and the Pine Tree State's only inclusion is an absolute gem.
A National Park As Wild As It Is Beautiful
Topping the list (thanks to it being in alphabetical order) is Acadia National Park, a wild wonderland that perfectly captures the state's rugged beauty, and perseverance.

Seemingly out of place, Sand Beach sits between rocky cliffs and lush forest in Acadia. The view from above makes for a pretty spectacular photo.
The list's description of Acadia highlights the obvious essentials, such as lighthouses (as seen above) and the breathtaking sunsets visible from the top of Cadillac Mountain (below).
Visitors to Acadia know that the state's natural treasure goes beyond the standards, though.

Historically, Acadia was the first national park east of the Mississippi. When it was originally established in 1919, it was called Sieur de Monts, but later renamed Acadia National Park in 1929.
Frequent visitors to New York City might feel right at home in Acadia. The Olmsted Brothers, who helped design Central Park, also designed the park’s iconic motor road.
