Drivers Still Calling 911 For Overturned Tractor Trailer on the Maine Turnpike
The Maine State Police appreciate the public's help, but they want you to know they are very much aware that there is an overturned tractor-trailer on the side of the Maine Turnpike.
Tractor Trailer Still on Its Side
The Maine State Police, who patrol the Maine Turnpike, shared a photo of the truck and reminded people that they know there's a truck on its side at mile marker 143 in Pittsfield. There has been a flood of calls to 911 from drivers as they passed by, thinking that the accident just recently happened, which is not the case. It's kind of obvious though.
Safety Barrels and Caution Tape
Here's your first clue that the Maine State Police know about the truck. There are safety barrels letting drivers know that there's a car road hazard there. The truck is well off to the side of the road so it's not a danger to anyone driving.
The Maine State Police are kindly asking drivers who see the truck at mile marker 143 southbound on the Maine Turnpike to stop calling 911 to let them know about the truck. They know. They even have it scheduled to be removed on Tuesday. Let's not forget that Monday is President's Day so that is likely why the truck's removal is still several days away.
If this is an area that you travel through regularly, you should keep an eye on the truck on Tuesday as crews will be on hand to safely remove it from where it lies.
