5 Must See Places To Make Your Next Boston Day Trip Unforgettable
Are you planning a day trip to Boston? Whether it's your first time visiting New England's largest city, or it's a place you've been before, it can be overwhelming for a lot of people. You have so many options, yet you only have one day. And it can be quite frustrating to get around, with traffic and construction affecting your commute just about all day long. So how do you know the best spots to visit, to make the most use of your time? Although I've never actually lived there, I've spent a good amount of time in Boston. And while I would never consider myself to be an expert on the city, I know enough to get around. Here are five spots that I recommend you visit on your next Boston day trip:
Fenway Park Tour
If you've never taken a tour of Fenway Park, this is an absolute must for anyone visiting Boston. Even if you're not a huge baseball fan, you'll most certainly appreciate the atmosphere and history of the park. They do tours at the top of every hour, year round, with a few exceptions. I've done it several times, and it never gets old. You can find out more and reserve tickets here.
Samuel Adams Boston Brewery
The home of one of the first microbreweries to go mainstream, the Sam Adams Brewery is a great place to stop, enjoy some of their delicious beer, and get an up close look at the operation with a tour. More details here.
Freedom Trail
According to Wikipedia, the Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path through downtown , that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. Marked largely with brick, it winds between Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. I walked it last summer, and it was great!
Boston Common
Dating all the way back to 1634, Boston Common is the oldest city park in the United States (according to Wikipedia). It's huge, it's beautiful, and it's a great place to have a picnic, or just walk around for a couple of hours. Also, using the Boston Common parking garage is a great way to save money the next time you head into the city for a concert or sporting event, with very affordable rates.
Boston Museum Of Science
You really could spend an entire day at the Boston Museum of Science, with over 700 interactive exhibits, live presentations, a domed IMAX theater, and so much more to check out. A great place for the kids, but lots of fun for adults, too. Find out more here.
**BONUS STOP: If you have time, stop by Mike's Pastry in the North End and grab a Cannoli. It's an iconic Italian bake shop that's been a favorite for tourists since 1946.
It was harder than I thought it would be to narrow it down to just five. What would you add to the list? Let us know, with a comment on the Facebook post!
