Weekend Happenings: Free Ugly Sweater Party, Sparkle Weekend and a Penguin Madagascar Movie [VIDEO]

The weekend is here grab a can of beer, and some other cool things to do-

Free Ugly Sweater Party:

It’s time to celebrate the season, the camaraderie, and, of course,  the tackiest piece of Christmas clothing you can find.

Those Christmas sweaters are not just for Grandma anymore!  Regardless of how tacky or overly festive some may think these sweaters are, we  love them! We want you to relish in the repetitive use of green, red and white  and adorn yourself with all the bells and whistles, the uglier the better!

Also feel free to think outside the box with traditional and  nontraditional Christmas characters…….creativity is king!

Join our station DJ’s as we rock around the Christmas tree and  provide the best holiday atmosphere around from 8:00pm to midnight.

$1,000 in prize money awarded for the following categories:

“Ugliest Sweater”

“Most Creative Outfit”

“Holy Holiday Cheer”

Along with other giveaways throughout the evening.

20th Annual Sparkle Weekend:

Each year, FreeportUSA presents one of Maine’s most popular holiday celebrations, Sparkle Celebration. The event kicks off in Freeport on Friday, December 5 at 6pm with a Parade of Lights down Main Street to wake up the famous Talking Christmas Tree. The fun continues all weekend with loads of free events and activities including visits with Santa, horse drawn carriage rides, a Holiday Movie Marathon, festive rides aboard the Amtrak Downeaster, a Tuba Christmas Concert and more! Best of all – it’s all free!
