Back in the Limelight

Kay aka Miss Kay aka Old Port Flower Lady is someone we haven't seen in quite some time due to the pandemic. An Old Port staple, we were reminded of her thanks to Binga's in Windham. Comments and messages have poured in of Old Port goers giving well wishes and sharing so many wonderful memories.

Flowers for Generations

Kay has been selling flowers in various clubs and bars in the Old Port for over 20 years. She has the friendliest presence and is always a welcome addition to any room she walks into.

COVID-times

With the Old Port operating at a minimum through the last year and Kay wanting to stay safe herself, she hasn't been out selling her beautiful flowers which has been difficult.

During this time off from selling flowers in the Old Port, Kay certainly hasn't had a break. Kay has been taking care of her husband who has been ill and out of work as well as caring for her mother.

Kay has seen the sign and many messages and even sent a video message to all of her friends!

After going viral thanks to the Binga's sign people have wanted to help and make sure she feels supported, loved, appreciated, and greatly missed.

GoFundMe

Kay has no idea that a GoFundMe has been created for her. It had the goal of $500 and has exploded in just two days to over $5,000. Why stop there? Kay is a Portland treasure and anyone who has seen her smiling face at Gritty's or Pearl or walking along the cobblestone knows she is more than deserving.

Kay, thank you so much for bringing your bright smile, vibrant flowers, and positive energy to the Old Port weekend after weekend for decades. We can't wait to see you there once again. We hope this money lifts some burdens until the world goes back to normal.
