Derec Clark's Crutch Dance

Back in 2016, an NSYNC reunion wasn't even an actual thought in anyone's mind and instead just a pipe dream; and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, resident Derec Clark hadn't ever really considered diving deep into social media content reaction.

Also in 2016, the first Trolls movie dropped along with its hit theme by Justin Timberlake, Can't Stop the Feeling. And, fresh off knee surgery with a massive passion for dancing and unable to sit still for the new JT song, Derec got his first taste of going a bit viral when he videoed himself dancing with the support of a crutch.

And while it's possible Justin never actually saw Derec's dance, there was, unfortunately, no interaction from Justin to or about Derec's incredible crutch dance that received a lot of love on social media (and subsequently still does when it's reposted.)

But a lot has changed in the last 7 years.

NSYNC Drops New Song 'Better Place'

Here we are in 2023, where Derec has become a popular local New England content creator on both TikTok and Instagram, and NSYNC has just dropped their brand new song, Better Place, from the upcoming Trolls Band Together movie.

And, in what seems to be becoming a bit of a tradition for Derec and popular themes from the Trolls franchise, Derec decided to drop a brand new dance video -- sans crutches and with two healthy knees.

But, unlike his last video, this time, it was noticed, because JC Chasez from NSYNC not only saw Derec's video, but reposted it to the Story of his own personal Instagram.

And, like any other person on social media acknowledged by a celebrity would do, Derec reposted JC's repost, in a very cool, collected, "stay calm" way.

And as if that wasn't cool enough, NSYNC as a whole also commented on the video, too, which Derec highlighted in another video as well.

NSYNC reunion tour stop in New England, confirmed, all because of Derec? (Insert "fingers crossed" emoji, here.)

Also, as a complete side note, Justin Timberlake has a message for anyone who isn't a fan of NSYNC's new song (or Derec's new dance video, for that matter) -- and it's all in good fun.
