Garden Thief Caught [Photos]

Hey, who's been munching on my plants?!  Last week, I noticed that some of my plants in my garden were looking severely pruned. I didn't do it.  Lily, the cat didn't do it.  Looking out my kitchen window the other day, I caught the culprit.

There he was munching on my Jacob's Ladder and crushing my phlox. That little stinker! I grabbed the camera to capture his crime.  After taking a few shots(with my camera), through the kitchen window, I ran out the back door to take more.  He saw me and looked at me with his his big brown eyes. I told him how we used to chase his brethren from my grandfather's garden in Prosser Brook, New Brunswick before Grampie could get out the shot gun. He wasn't impressed and just stared me down. I told him that I could share the Jacob's Ladder but the Japanese Painted Fern was off limits. He was non-committal and scurried back under the neighbor's garage. As I turned back into the house, I saw the cat watching me and just shaking her head.

Do you have woodchucks or other pesky creatures in your yard?  Do you do anything to keep them from eating your garden?
