I know It's September, but Portland needs a Christmas tree now.

And not just any ol' tree will do. As you know, this tree has to be kinda perfect. Here's what Portland needs your tree to be.

Portland needs it to be an evergreen, spruce, or fir, 45-60 feet tall, & relatively accessible for cut down. So, no power lines or any huge obstructions. My favorite part is that the winning tree will be removed & transported from the owner’s property at no cost. I would hope not. Can you imagine having to pay to have your tree in Monument Square? Anyway, if you have a tree that we can all enjoy for the holiday season, you have to be in the Greater Portland area (Portland, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Gorham, Westbrook, Falmouth, Cumberland, or Yarmouth). Please let the City of Portland know TODAY, because this will sneak up on us as it does every year!

This tree has some stiff competition with other towns. Westbrook got a whole lotta love for their Christmas tree.

This was a traffic-stopping, eye-catching, LED extravaganza! And yes, they had a "traditional" tree nearby. So, Portland has got to have a show-stopper of a tree. I always think Portland's tree is well done. Of course, there was that one year that the lights were a tad messed up.

Don't worry, that was around six years ago, and they did fix it.

Last year was all white lights. What will this year bring, and will they be strung on YOUR tree?

*I didn't call it a Christmas tree because I'm not in the mood to deal with those calling me out.
