Do Fairies Really Live On This Maine Island?

Have you heard about the fairy house island just outside of Portland? Mackworth Island is a great destination for exploring and enjoying the outdoors. Just minutes from Portland, it's home to the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf. There are some great walking trails, and sandy beaches.

It's a nice spot to take the kids or your dog (or both!) for some exercise and fresh air. And if you're a little lucky, you might stumble upon a few of the fairy houses that the island has become famous for. My girls love exploring there!
