Cats, dogs and other domestic animals are turned over to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland in double digit numbers every day.  The staff & volunteers do it with a smile.  This is the no judgment zone.

They would much rather the animals be turned into the shelter than abandoned. Teddy Mckay & I had the pleasure of getting the grand tour of the shelter during the Holiday Open House from Executive Director, Patsy Murphy. We saw the piles of laundry that the guests go through daily, met a few of the hundreds of volunteers and staff who keep the animals fed, warm & healthy and of course, met the adorable & precious pets looking for their forever always home. Guests stay at the shelter an average of 14 days with over 4,000 of them coming through the doors every year. While we were there at the Open house 2500 pounds of food were donated, $12,000 raised and 8 animals were adopted. Stay tuned for regular updates from the warm hearted ARLGP Community Relations Manager, Lynne McGhee on 94.9 WHOM.
