The wait is almost over for the newest chairlift in Maine, and the fastest six-person chairlift in all of the United States.

The state-of-the-art Barker 6 chairlift is the most recent of several upgrades completed by Sunday River. If you were to make a comparison between chairlifts and cars, this six-person chairlift is the Cadillac of lifts.

The Baker 6 has six ergonomically heated seats enclosed by a Sunday River Red bubble, keeping everyone toasty warm as they head up the mountain. It has 63 chairs that weigh a ton each, and the trip up the mountain takes just under five minutes, giving it the title of the fastest six-person chairlift in the US.

A video was posted to Sunday River's YouTube channel on November 14 showing the progress at that time on the Baker 6 lift.

Prior to construction last year, another video was posted which showed computer animations of what the lift will look like when it's operational.

If you're ready to hit the slopes, Sunday River is going to be ready with the Baker 6 chairlift on Saturday, December 9. Want to be the first to ride it?

Sunday River passholders and guests can enter a raffle for the first chair experience at the Barker 6 grand opening. All the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Bethel Food Pantry. If you want more info, you can go to SundayRiver.com/Events.

Sunday River isn't done. They still have five more years of upgrades to make it Maine's most famous ski resort.
