There are a lot of events in Maine that people circle on their calendars every year, but this one, Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor, well babes, it’s one of those festivals that just feels special.

And honestly? I am ridiculously excited to be broadcasting our morning show from there. I have yet to experience Windjammer Days and when I found out what it was all about, I am honestly surprised I haven't been.

Imagine it this way... an entire coastal town deciding to throw a weeklong celebration of everything that makes Maine magical. The event happens from Sunday, Father's Day June 21st to June 27th, according to their site.

The 949HOM Morning Show will be broadcasting live from the Whale's Tale Restaurant on Wednesday, June 24th from 6am-10am.

They are already calling everyone to join in with there decorated boats, check out this post from Friends of Windjammers on Facebook.

But the week is filled with mid coast amazement, you've got these amazing historic schooners that fill the harbor.

Boats decorated like floating works of art. A street parade. Fireworks over the water. The Blessing of the Fleet. Vintage boats. Artists. Pirates. Maritime traditions that have been around for generations. And somehow it all happens in one of the prettiest harbors in New England.

The festival has been a Boothbay Harbor tradition for decades now and is really considered the unofficial kickoff to summer in the region.

It's a celebration of Maine's maritime heritage and the people whose lives are connected to the water.

One minute you're watching a decorated boat parade glide through the harbor, the next you're grabbing coffee while admiring schooners that look like they sailed straight out of a history book.

Later in the week there are fireworks lighting up the sky above the masts, a huge street parade through town, and a vintage boat parade that turns the harbor into a floating museum.

As someone who gets to talk about Maine and New England for a living, these are the events I love the most because they remind you why people fall in love with this state in the first place.

The salty ocean air. The lobster boats heading out for the day. The families lining the streets for parades. The visitors seeing Boothbay Harbor for the first time and immediately understanding why so many people come back year after year.

So yes, I am excited to bring the morning show to Windjammer Days.
