Two Classic Steven Spielberg Movies Playing This Weekend at Maine Drive-In
If you're a fan of Steven Spielberg movies, you're in for a treat this weekend at one of the longest-running drive-in movie theaters in Maine.
Speilberg has a whopping 32 movies that have had his name attached to them, whether it be as a writer, producer, director, or any combination of the three. Big, blockbuster movies like the Indiana Jones films, Jurrasic Park, and War of the Worlds. He has also been behind several Academy Award-winning films like The Color Purple, Schindler's List and Lincoln. In total, his films have won a combined 35 Academy Awards and his been behind some of the top-grossing films of all time.
One of those top-grossing films in its day is going to be shown with another one of Speilberg's popular films this weekend at Pride's Corner Drive-in in Westbrook. It's a double feature of Stephen Speilberg films and these two are classics.
July 14, 15, 16 as well and July 19 and 20 will be a double feature of Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Jaws was the highest-grossing movie in 1975 and made everyone who saw it afraid to go in the water. Though the shark hasn't held up as well over the years with the advent of CGI, it's still a thriller even if you've seen it before. I'm betting many, like myself, have never seen it on a big screen, so here's your chance.
The second feature is Close Encounters of the Third Kind from 1977 starring Richard Dreyfus who was also in Jaws.
Do you believe in UFOs? The thrill of this film is that you never really know exactly what's going on, but it has an ending that rivals that of one of Spielberg's other alien movies E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
Both of these movies will be shown at Pride's Corner Drive-In over five days. Need another reminder of the dates and times? Here you go.
