Threat of a School Shooting Prompts Closure of Maine School Thursday
According to WABI TV 5, a threat about a possible shooting at the school was discovered written in a stall in the girls' bathroom near the cafeteria at Calais Middle & High School.
The superintendent announced the closure of the school for Thursday, October 7th 2021, given the serious nature of the threat. Yesterday schools in Orono were closed following a similar threat.
Threats like these have been on the increase in Maine, especially over the last couple of weeks. Just last week there was a threat that lead to school closures in Old Town.
Fairmount School in Bangor has to be evacuated last Friday because there was a written threat found in the building.
Last month in Portland a snapchat prompted the closure of all SAD 6 schools and Portland High School.
