The Only Minor League Mascot in the Hall of Fame is Maine’s Slugger
Way to go Slugger the Sea Dog!
Slugger the Sea Dog, the mascot of the Portland Sea Dogs (duh), has been chosen to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame. Who's a good dog? Who's a good dog? The Bangor Daily News reported that Slugger already has under his belt (yes, he wears one) the 'Greatest Community Impact and 'Best In-Game Skit or Routine' awards from the Mascot Hall of Fame. It's only fitting that he be in the Hall of Fame! There will be a ceremony on August, 12 in Indiana.
Slugger is the first minor league mascot to be chosen for the Mascot Hall of Fame!
He has been with the Sea Dogs since 1994! And the third time's a charm because Slugger was nominated a couple of times before. But this time it's happening. Out of 20 choices, fans voted to induct Slugger, along with Otto the Orange from Syracuse University.
I have no idea if there is a bus heading to Whiting, Indiana, but if there is - it's going to be hard to resist not hopping on!
I have never been this happy for a mascot before in my life. I've been watching Slugger since he was a pup back in 1994. Slugger is a master at what he does and this induction into the Mascot Hall of Fame should have come years ago because it is so well deserved.
From all of us who have high-fived you, laughed at your antics and truly come to watch you as much as we catch a baseball game,
CONGRATULATIONS, SLUGGER!
