Maine is home to some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine during the warm, summer months. But if you're looking for something else to add to that incredible water view this summer, you may want to make a plan to visit the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and it's incredibly unique picnic area.

The Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory is already a destination for lots of locals and tourists for its incredible views. The Observatory stands taller that the Statue Of Liberty and offers up water and mountain views that show the true beauty of Maine. But one of the hidden gems of this destination lies to the side of the bridge.

Shared on Reddit by 5_frog_margin, check out this incredible picnic area tucked away near the river bank. The two picnic tables are underneath what appears to be either a custom replica of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge or perhaps even a piece of the bridge itself that wasn't used. Either way, it serves as one of the coolest places in Maine that you could crush an Italian sandwich while sipping on a Moxie to feel like a true Mainer.

You can find the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory along Route 1 in Prospect, Maine. If you visit in the height of the summer, parking can be an issue at times so plan accordingly.
